My birthday was this past Monday. I enjoyed some nice dinners with great friends, and celebrated my life and friendships with them. But I also came across this quote by Patanjali:
"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bounds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be." - Pantanjali - To me, birthdays are also means to take stock of what I'd done in the previous year, and what I have coming up. I reflect on where I am and where I could be and what my goals are. Pantanjali reminds me that embracing our creativity yields possibilities which know no boundaries. When we realize this, life is all the sweeter. My recent projects and learning experiences attest to this. Just an anecdote...Last Sunday, I was shooting "Men at War". I felt like garbage when I woke up for the early call...sore throat, body ache, all that stuff that guys whine about. Had to high tail it crosstown to the set, cursing, all that sh-tuff. All I could think of was finishing the day, getting home, and drinking liquids out of my Donald Duck Crazy Straw, because liquids go down more easily that way. I heard voices of my friends say "Be a man, just fucking deal with it." As soon as I got to the set, I ate a quick breakfast, and we began the takes. By the time we were shooting my scenes, I'd forgotten that I was sick. I was that into it.
Feeling like complete garbage, only to forget about it while working. What a great feeling. My episode as an American WW I officer airs tonight on the Travel Channel, 9:00 PM Eastern!
Great last rehearsal today; looking forward to start shooting tomorrow!
"Mysteries at the Museum" on The Travel Channel! Airs Thursday, Jan 10 at 9PM Eastern. I'm an American Officer in World War I. Trench warfare. Smoke. Explosions. And a dog.
